The history of Capannelle started in 1974 when the businessman Raffaele Rossetti moved to a 16th century Villa surrounded by 10.5 hectares of land in Gaiole in Chianti, homeland to Chianti Classico. After a deep analysis of the area and soil, a new vineyard of 3.5 hectares was planted using only local grapes such as Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Colorino and Malvasia while two more hectares were planted with olive trees.
The first label was released in 1975: it was a Table Wine named simply Capannelle. Despite its “simplicity”, this wine was able to conquer the critics and market attention, becoming a symbol of quality, thanks to a careful management of vineyards and the use of modern technologies in the cellar.
