Located in the heart of the Bandol terroir, Domaine Tempier was already in existence during the reign of Louis XV (1715-74). The house was built in 1834 and the estate gained recognition in 1885 when it won its first gold medal. In 1936, after Lucie Tempier marries Lucien Peyraud, a winegrower by heart, led by great spirit and ambition, the winery develops magnificently and Bandol becomes one of France`s finest vins de garde, on a par with Bordeaux, Burgundy, Côte-Rotie, Hermitage and Châteauneuf du Pape. Based on the dominant Mouvedre grape, the vineyards are carefully and properly maintained without chemical fertilizers or herbicides, supported by high-performance equipment, enabling the Domaine to move with the times.
