In 2004, Gianfranco and Simona embarked on their winemaking journey by acquiring a quaint 1.3-hectare Primitivo vineyard. Their primary objective has been to produce wines that truly showcase the distinctive terroir of the region, which they have successfully achieved through the meticulous work of Gianfranco, who proudly refers to himself as a "craftsman of the vines." Committed to preserving old vineyards and their unique characteristics, they cultivate the vines using the small bush pugliese system on red limestone-clay soil, benefiting from the gentle breezes from the nearby Ionian Sea and the warm Apulian sun. Balancing tradition and innovation, they employ traditional growing techniques alongside modern production processes to capture typicity and innovation in their wines. With great attention to detail, all vineyard operations are performed by hand, and the harvest takes place at first light, carefully selecting the bunches and transporting them in refrigerated trucks to the cellar. Destemming occurs in the afternoon once the grapes have reached the optimal temperature. The wines are then aged for a minimum of nine months in 228-liter French oak barriques, allowing them to develop depth and complexity.
