Josef Hofstätter operated a small restaurant in Tramin together with his wife Maria and produced wine in their cellar. Being business savvy and forward-thinking, he founded a winery in 1907 and successfully traded wine. J.HOFSTATTER is a five generations of a winemaking family, exceptional vineyards on both sides of the Adige River in southern Alto Adige, a traditional winery in the heart of the historic wine village Tramin. Today the vineyard properties also extend into the mountains of neighbouring Trentino and to the steep slopes of the Saar in Germany’s Mosel wine region.
