Marqués de Riscal is one of the oldest Rioja wineries, founded in 1858 by Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga in Elciego (Álava). Throughout its history, Marqués de Riscal has always been an innovating, pioneering cellar and a point of reference in the winemaking business at both national and international level. At the start of the 70s, Vinos de los Herederos del Marqués de Riscal adds also white wines from the Rueda region to its product range. Nowadays, about 60% of the Marqués de Riscal output is exported to nearly 100 countries worldwide.
In the heart of the Marqués de Riscal wine cellars, a colossal project, called “The City of Wine” has been brought to life with the special contribution by the Canadian architect, Frank O. Gehry - without a shadow of a doubt, one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken in Spanish wine cellars to date.
