Description

The name is derived from a battle ("bataille“) during the 100-years war. This battle has taken place in the 15th century at the same place we can find the chateau and the vineyards today. In 1855 Napoleon III created the classification for the Paris World exhibition, and Batailley was selected together with the 60 best Medoc Estates to form the Grand Cru Classé 1855 Classification.

The flagship wine of Borie-Manoux and the Castéja-family. Classic and very typical Pauillac, with ruby red colour, pronounced notes of cassis, blackberry fruit and caramel, sweet cherry, cedar wood, smoky notes, tobacco and chocolate. On the palate a very dense structure, abundant but very well integrated elegant sweet tannins, complex with a precise structure, fullbodied and with great elegance in the long finish. Can be stored for 25-50 years depending on vintage.
