Founded in 1859 by Giovanni Gaja in Barbaresco, (Piedmont, Italy), the Gaja Winery, currently owned and managed by the fifth generation of the family, has established a tradition of absolute dedication to uncompromising quality. Thanks to the Barbaresco, the winery’s flagship, in the beginning of the 20th century, the Gaja wines achieve a leadership position in Italy. Joining the Winery in 1961, Angelo (grand-grandson of Giovanni) combines his respect for the tradition of the Langhe with bold innovations in the vineyards and the cellars and also introduces the Gaja wines to the foreign markets. Today, Gaja owns 250 acres of vineyards in the Barbaresco district (Barbaresco and Treiso) and the Barolo district (Serralunga d’Alba and La Morra), as well as in Tuscany (Pieve Santa Restituta in Montalcino and Ca’ Marcanda, located in the Bolgheri district).
